Captain Cup 2024: IBB Club Proposes N10m Talent Endowment Fund

The IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja has proposed N10 million as take-off of the endowment fund to help talented young golfers achieve their dreams.

The outgoing Captain of IBB Club, Dr Banjo Obaleye, disclosed this while addressing the media on the 2024 IBB Captain Cup.

“Golf is becoming a multi-million-dollar game and Nigeria cannot afford to sit and watch,” Obaleye said.

He noted that the Executive Committee under him initiated the endowment fund to cater for the need of upcoming golfers from age nine to 17 years.

Also the Chairman of the Planning Committee of 2024 IBB Captain Cup, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, said over 500 golfers registered for the tournament to celebrate the coming to the end of the tenure of Obaleye.

The tournament week commenced on Monday with a Staff and Caddies Kitty and a professional competition followed the next day.

The Veteran Category, featuring both men and lady golfers  held yesterday while today has been set aside as practice day for all registered players ahead of the climax tournament tomorrow when men in Handicap 0 to 9.8 and ladies in Handicap 14.5 to 23.7 will compete for the coveted cup.

Sports Minister, Senator John Owah Enoh, representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who graces the occasion as the special guest of honour will perform the official ceremonial tee off.
