The Order of Knights of Saint Mulumba (KSM) Nigeria, Lagos Metropolitan Council, has inducted 127 Knights into the Order, noting that the move was a confirmation that the knights have been tested and certified to take leadership positions.
The Head, Order Knights of St Mulumba, Nigeria, Cameroon and Uganda, Dr. Charles Imbelede, speaking on the sidelines of its 3rd degree investiture ceremony in Lagos, said the investiture signified that the brothers and sisters inducted into the Order are competent and worthy to be called Knights in all ramifications as far as the Order is concerned.
In his words, “This is aimed at qualifying and certifying brothers and sisters who have sat for the examinations and they have been found worthy and have been invested as Third degree knights of our honoured Order.”
Meanwhile, responding to a question about the welfare of Christians in the Northern part of the country and the nation at large, the Metropolitan Grand Knight, St Mulumba Lagos Metropolitan Council, Sir Don Eze, said as Catholics, the Knights are committed to national peace, explaining that there are existing partnerships with other churches to express their positions as a church for the betterment of the society and the nation at large.
According to Imbelede, “The KSM consists of
four categories of registration, we have the first degree knights, second, third and fourth which is the apex. This is the penultimate and because we have four categories, when you graduate into the other degree, they undergo some orientation and by their subsequent training and exposure, they become a first degree Knight, but the ultimate is to qualify and get to the apex which is the red neck.”
“We are all contemporary human beings aspiring to make heaven, because a Knight is an individual with honour and integrity who is expected to give his time, talent and treasure to the betterment of mankind and to the glory of God,” he added.
He said as part of its contribution to mankind, it built a mass centre in Kirikiri prisons for prisoners they visit on a monthly basis to donate relief items for the betterment of the society and the less privileged in the society.
The Metropolitan Grand Knight said the event is to confirm brothers and sisters that have been tested and found worthy over the last 10 years in the Order.
“It means that they have really excelled and have been found worthy to move to the third degree which is the penultimate degree. It is a degree where many of the leadership positions,” he said.
“We are committed to advancing the aspirations and preferences of the Catholic church. There are positions that the Catholic church has taken in many issues either national or international. We will defend those positions because those positions were taken after a long discussion among the hierarchy, but as Catholics, we are sure of who we are and we are sure of the Lord we are serving,” he added.
