To mark the 25th anniversary of its Foundation, Schneider Electric, leader in digital transformation of energy management and automation, in partnership with Ashoka, has launched a global campaign call for youth applications, titled ‘Youth Innovation For A Sustainable Future’.
The campaign is to celebrate and award impactful, innovative youth projects committed to building a fairer, low-carbon society.
In recent times where social and environmental challenges are more widespread and more urgent than ever, the Schneider Electric Foundation supports innovative and forward-looking projects to give as many people as possible the energy they need to succeed.
The goal of the Foundation is to play a part in creating a fairer, less carbon-intensive society that gives future generations the tools to transform our world.
Cluster President, Anglophone Africa, Schneider Electric, Devan Pillay, said: “We are honoured and excited to form part of the Schneider Electric Foundation’s milestone 25th year anniversary.
“Through the Foundation’s ongoing, impactful initiatives such as the Energy Technical Training and New Skills for the Future and Innovation programmes, the youth is encouraged to work towards a sustainable future for all; it is a tremendous and admirable goal, and we look forward to the entries from the African continent.”
Following his statement, the Country President, Schneider Electric, Ajibola Akindele, spoke on Nigerian youths driving sustainable energy transition.
According to Akindele, “Positive initiatives to tackle growing social and environmental challenges are driven by young people from around the world. In Nigeria, we have witnessed a noteworthy surge of youth driving these social and environmental projects.
“At Schneider Electric, we are enthusiastic about supporting our youths as they lead energy transition.”
The call for applications on ‘Youth Innovation For A Sustainable Future’ with Ashoka’s programme changemaker companies focuses on professional engagement and a fair transition, with the aim to select 25 of the most impactful innovative youth projects across all five continents (Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East).
In each continent, the best project will receive the first prize of €30,000, the second €20,000, the third and the fourth €10,000 each and the last spot will receive €5,000.
Finally, out of the 25 projects, one will receive a special prize of ‘Youth Innovation Champion’ of €50,000 prize in total during the COP29 climate summit in Bakou, Azerbaïdjan.
