“It’s based on a true story and completely in the African Igbo language — I first heard about this extinct tradition when I was seven years old. It kind of haunted me for a couple of years after. However, variations of this tradition existed in several countries.”

“I had an incredible sound team who worked their butts off to make this really special — the entire post-production team was fully committed, we went to Imo State to record musical instruments and the sounds you hear in the film,” he acknowledged. “I think the music is quite different, we manipulated African concepts to create something exceptional .”
