Margaret Nwomeh Begins Final Journey with a Vigil Mass, Burial Holds Saturday

The final journey of Ezinne Margaret Nwomeh, mother of Mr. Dan Nwomeh, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Enugu State on Mainstream Media, began on Friday, with a vigil holy mass at her hometown, Ozalla in Nkanu West LGA, Enugu State, celebrated by the Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Most Rev. Callistus Onaga.

Rendering the homily, the Parish Priest of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Iji Nike, Very Rev. Fr. Anthony Igwe, underscored the need for Christians to believe in God and serve Him without reservation.

He described the late Mrs. Nwomeh as a woman of faith, who served her maker and humanity with total commitment.

With countless examples of his personal encounters with the deceased, Rev. Fr. Igwe, recalled how Mrs. Nwomeh served God with her time, resources, and total being and urged other Christians to emulate her.

He added that through discipline and exemplary living the Margaret Nwomeh merited the title of Ezinne. He noted that she recorded a huge success in raising very godly and highly illustrious children, who have distinguished themselves in their various fields of human endeavour.

Meanwhile, other co-mass celebrants, including the Parish Priest of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Ozalla Rev. Father Dennis Eze and Rev. Fr. Remy Onyenu, led the congregation in prayers for the peaceful repose of the deceased’s soul.

The vigil mass was attended by many Catholic priests and dignitaries from various walks of life.

The remains of Mrs. Nwomeh will be interred on Saturday after a funeral mass at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Four Corners, Ozalla.

A community leader and retired health worker, the late Mrs Nwomeh died in February 2024 aged 77.
