Nigeria’s Dinah Lugard Triumphs in Hackathon 2024

Dinah Lugard, representing Nigeria, clinched victory in Hackathon 2024, hosted by Pydon Global. Over 100 participants from across Africa vied in the preliminary rounds. Lugard faced off against finalists from Tanzania and Senegal, ultimately seizing the coveted prize. The virtual event spanned April, concluding on May 2nd, 2024, showcasing Lugard’s prowess as a White Hat Hacker. Not only did she secure the winner’s title, but also earned acclaim for her stellar presentation.

As the champion, Lugard walks away with a $5000 cash prize and a scholarship for Artificial Intelligence studies at Harvard University, with a remarkable score of 2277 Points. The second-place contestant, representing Senegal, secured a scholarship for System Engineering studies in any African country, scoring 2044 points. The Tanzanian contender, placing third, earns a scholarship for computer science studies at a Tanzanian University.

Dinah Lugard emerges as a vocal advocate in cybersecurity, stressing the critical need to bolster digital defenses against fraud and hacking. The visionary founder expressed gratitude for the accolade, remarking, “This victory humbles me. It reinforces our collective responsibility to better society, motivating me to leverage my cybersecurity skills for positive change.”
