Rivers Court Restrains Amaewhule, 25 Others from Parading Themselves as Assembly Members

A Rivers State High Court, has granted an interim order asking Martin Amaewhule and 25 others to stop parading themselves as Rivers State House of Assembly Members, pending the determination of the court on the suit.

The court also asked the Rivers State Governor, Attorney General of the State, and Rivers State Chief Judge to stop dealing with the mentioned lawmakers loyal to the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

The matter filed Friday by Hon Victor Oko-Jumbo, who was recently elected speaker by three lawmakers loyal to Gov Sim Fubara, was registered in Suit Number PHC/1512/CS/2024, before before Justice Charles N. Wali.

The court further ordered that the affected lawmakers should not hold meeting or sit anywhere until the decision by the court. It adjourned till May 29 for mention on notice.
