Uba Sani Doubles Down On Food Security
By Nasir Dambatta
In a bid to alleviate the suffering of vulnerable citizens and support food security, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has launched two major initiatives: a massive grain delivery programme and an agricultural support scheme. These initiatives demonstrate the governor’s commitment to ensuring that citizens have access to nutritious food and supporting the state’s agricultural sector.
The grain delivery programme launched Friday at Dankande in Rigachikun, saw the distribution of 1,313 metric tons of grains, including maize, millet, and sorghum, to vulnerable groups across the state. This was part of the government’s efforts to cushion the effects of economic hardship on citizens. The grains will be distributed to internally-displaced persons, widows, orphans, and other vulnerable households, providing them with a vital source of nutrition.
Recall that jubilation had erupted last week, when Governor Uba Sani also launched an agricultural support scheme aimed at boosting food production and security in the state. The scheme, which included the distribution of fertilizers, seeds, and other farm inputs, is designed to support small-scale farmers and enhance their productivity. This initiative will help increase food availability, improve farm incomes, and reduce poverty among rural communities.
According to Governor Uba Sani, the two initiatives are part of the government’s commitment to ensuring food security and supporting the welfare of citizens.
“We are determined to make Kaduna State a hub for agricultural production and ensure that our citizens have access to nutritious food,” he said. “We will continue to support our farmers and vulnerable citizens to ensure that no one is left behind.”
Both the grain delivery programme and agricultural support scheme are expected to have a significant impact on food security in Kaduna State, particularly among vulnerable groups. Significantly, the initiatives demonstrate the government’s proactive approach to addressing food insecurity and supporting the state’s agricultural sector.
With these initiatives, Governor Uba Sani has once again demonstrated his administration’s commitment to the welfare of citizens and the development of the state. The grain delivery program and agricultural support scheme are critical steps towards ensuring food security and promoting sustainable agriculture in Kaduna State.
Furthermore, the initiatives are also expected to boost the state’s economy, create jobs, and increase revenue generation. The agricultural sector is a significant contributor to the state’s GDP, and the government’s support will help stimulate growth and development in the sector.
The grain delivery ( through NEMA)by President Bola Tinubu and the the agricultural support scheme launched by Governor Uba Sani are commendable initiatives that will have a positive impact on food security and the agricultural sector in Kaduna State. The government’s commitment to supporting citizens and promoting sustainable agriculture is a step in the right direction towards achieving food security and economic prosperity.
