Group Passes Vote of Confidence on Akwa Ibom Gov

A socio-political group, U-Advocates has passed a vote of confidence on Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, as he marks his first anniversary in office.

In a communique issued at the end of its Special Congress held at EEMJM Hotel, Uyo, and signed by its members on Saturday, May 11, 2024, U-Advocates applauded Governor Eno for initiating projects that have not only touched lives but brought a fresh wave of governance to the state.

Describing Governor Eno’s administration as the ”Golden Era” of governance in the state, the group highlighted several achievements of the Umo Eno administration including the completion of internal road networks in Akpan Andem market, construction of model primary schools and health centres, revocation and re-awarding of Nsit Atai-Okobo Road, and the ongoing construction of Ring Road 4.

While impressing on his colleagues the need to pass a vote-of-confidence on the governor, the Coordinator of the group, Mr. Etiene Ukpong poured encomium on the state’s Number One citizen ahead of his first anniversary in office.

The Deputy Coordinator of the group, Mr. Bassey Ukpong later moved the motion for a vote-of-confidence on the governor and it was duly seconded by Hon. Richard Ntia, Personal Assistant to the Governor from Itu.

”Governor Umo Eno has packed so much accomplishments into his first year in office that his performance slate is filled many positive results like the Construction of Arise Shelter for the poor in the 31 local government areas and the recent payment of ₦500,000 business grant to over 800 persons. In addition to this, the Governor has successfully united the political class across party lines. To secure our waterways, the Akwa Ibom Chief Executive acquired 14 gun boats and also donated security vehicles to the police and the military. He also established Ibom Community Watch which has provided employment to many youths,” reads part of the communique issued at the end of the meeting.

The group also commended Eno for his achievements in agriculture, education, health, housing, security, infrastructure and entrepreneurship, as well as, payment of leave grants and promotion allowances to civil servants and pensions and gratuities to aged pensioners, stating that these can only be achieved by a governor with a human face.

While praising the governor for introducing compassion into governance, empathy and candour, and successfully implementing political inclusivity, which according to them has brought unity across party lines, the group expressed optimism ”that the years ahead will be signposted by more promising and life touching programmes and opportunities.”

With the vote of confidence passed on Governor Eno, the group reaffirmed its support for the ARISE Agenda of the governor, pledging total support to all programmes of the Eno administration.

While noting that the group is excited with Governor’s commitment to his electoral promises to Akwa Ibom people, they urged Pastor Eno to continue pushing projects that will yield good dividends of democracy to the people of Akwa Ibom State.
