Huawei Says Nigerian Market Important, Strategic across Africa

Global ICT giant, Huawei has affirmed that the Nigerian market remains strategic for the company in the African region

The Managing Director, Huawei Nigeria, Mr. Wu Kui Terrens, made this known during the Huawei-Nigeria Connect 2024 event held in Lagos recently.

Terrens said the company has invested over N383 billion for local procurement from 2013 to 2023, trained more than 50,000 Nigerians on ICT empowerment, and more than 200 indigenous companies’ technical capability have been improved by Huawei as certified partners.

The company also has local presence in Sokoto, Kano, Bauchi, Abuja, Ibadan, Lagos, Enugu, Port Harcourt, and in 2023, the company invested over 23 percent of its total revenue on research and development, which the highest in history. According to the EU 2023 Industrial R&D Investment Scoreboard, Huawei is the World’s 2nd highest investor in R&D.

He assured Nigerians that Huawei would continue to invest as a market leader to drive digital transformation in Nigeria.

According to him, Huawei plans to invest $200 million yearly by 2028 in the areas of cloudification, digitalization, and decarbonization, through its partners, for the benefit of all end users of Huawei technologies. The company will also be incentivizing partners with $15 million annually, with a further assurance to build a fair, just, open, and transparent partner ecosystem in Nigeria.

In her remarks, Senior Channel and Commercial Sales Manager, Huawei Nigeria, Dr. Happiness Udoh, who spoke on the 2024 Partner Capacity Building Policy, said the company has achieved 60 percent year-on-year growth from 2021 to 2023, with over 300 partners.

She assured customers of efficiency and real-time solutions through the Huawei Association and Strategic partners, adding that training of partners remains a top priority for Huawei Nigeria.

Senior Solutions Manager, Huawei Nigeria, Mr. Stephen Tseen Fayum, who spoke on how Huawei is accelerating its digital and intelligent journey to the future of work, said Huawei would continue to support the growth of digital connectivity in Nigeria. He stressed the need for organizations to key into Huawei’s technology solution to achieve digital transformation through digital connectivity.

He spoke about the benefits of digital connectivity and storage in serving customers with a better experience. He said organizations could achieve fast digital connectivity, through the Huawei Net5.5G high-quality cloud campus that ensures superfast access to digital services, including the Huawei WiFi 7 device and WiFi 6E device.

Fayum assured the audience that Nigeria could achieve fast digital connectivity in four major ways, which he listed to include: High-quality 10Gbps Campus Solution, Wi-Fi solution, Converged WAN Infrastructure, and Resilient Data Network Solution, that connects solutions to data centers
