In a move aimed at bolstering unity and ensuring a resounding victory in the forthcoming November gubernatorial election in Ondo State, prominent chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state have called for genuine reconciliation within the party.

The call was made by several key figures who recently participated in the just concluded governorship primary in the state.

In a statement signed by Morayo Lebi, Professor Dayo Faduyile, Dr. Soji Ehinlanwo, Prince Diran Iyantan, Hon. Mayowa Akinfolarin, Dr. Funmilayo Waheed-Adekojo, and Hon. Jimi Odimayo, the chieftains emphasized the necessity of embracing peace for the overall success of the party.

“The party’s position is that His Excellency Lucky Aiyedatiwa is our gubernatorial candidate. This position should be sacrosanct to us all, even when some of us have expressed reservations. We acknowledge that perfection is a moving target,” the statement said.

The chieftains underscored their commitment to the party’s growth and unity, highlighting the importance of setting aside personal interests for the collective good. “As party leaders, who have contributed significantly to nurturing the party to impressive growth, we cannot allow anything that could lead to the polarization of our party with the potential consequence of undermining unity within our party,” they asserted.

The leaders called on all members and supporters to rally behind the gubernatorial candidate, Aiyedatiwa, emphasizing that victory in the upcoming election is of paramount importance.

“We need everyone on board in the collective march towards victory,” they urged.

Acknowledging the grievances of some members, the statement appealed for reconciliation and unity.

“We hereby appeal to other aspirants and members of our great party, who are aggrieved, to put aside their grievances in the larger interest of the party,” they said.

The chieftains expressed their endorsement of the reconciliation efforts proposed by the party, reiterating the need for a unified front as the election approaches.
