Oando Foundation’s Clean Our World Project Reaches New Heights

Oando Foundation, a charitable organization dedicated to supporting the Nigerian government’s Universal Basic Education goal, has launched the fourth phase of its Clean Our World project (COW IV) in Lagos. This phase marks a significant milestone, reaching 54 public primary schools in 25 communities and benefiting over 47,000 people.

Building on the success of previous phases, COW IV focuses on standardized lesson delivery, capacity building for teachers, and in-school climate action activities. With active government participation, the project ensures uniform and high-quality delivery of environmental education in schools across Lagos State.

“Environmental education is crucial for equipping students with the knowledge and skills to address complex environmental challenges,” said Mrs. Adekanla Adegoke, Head of Oando Foundation. “We are excited to commence COW IV, which will empower teachers, engage students, and foster a culture of environmental stewardship.”

Since its inception, the Clean Our World project has expanded, reaching more communities and schools. In collaboration with Sumitomo Chemical, a leading Japanese chemical company, Oando Foundation has promoted environmental education and sustainable waste management practices in Lagos State.

Through robust government participation and strategic partnerships, Oando Foundation has ensured sustainable impact and created a legacy of environmental awareness and action. The project is expanding to other communities in Nigeria, including Plateau State, impacting over 6,000 direct beneficiaries in 20 public primary schools.

Oando Foundation continues to lead advocacy efforts and policy-level engagements with key stakeholders for standardization and inclusion of environmental education lessons in public primary schools across the country.
