National Assembly Library Trust Fund, Partners hold National Engagement Supported by NED
The National Assembly Library Trust Fund (NALTF), under the esteemed leadership of Rt. Hon. Henry Nwawuba, continues to fortify its position as the premier venue for critical national stakeholder engagements. With a vision to enhance democratic dialogues, public policy discussions, and debates on issues of national importance, NALTF is dedicated to offering its unwavering support and resources for the organization of such events.
In a recent testament to its pivotal role, NALTF co-organized a significant two-day national engagement on addressing identity-based conflict with a keynote address delivered by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu. The event, held on May 20-21, 2024, brought together legislators, political party leaders, and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) from various regions of Nigeria, including the North Central, North West, and South East regions. This session aimed to sensitize participants on the findings from a mapping exercise of non-state organizations relevant to identity-based conflict dynamics, with the ultimate goal of reducing such violence through strategic, evidence-based policies and interventions.
Rt. Hon. Henry Nwawuba, the Executive Secretary of NALTF, emphasized the importance of such engagements in fostering a deeper understanding and resolution of complex national issues. “The National Assembly Library Trust Fund is committed to being a beacon of knowledge and a catalyst for change. By hosting and supporting these critical dialogues, we are contributing to the foundation of a more peaceful and democratic Nigeria,” he stated.
The event, organized in collaboration with the International Republican Institute (IRI) and the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), featured insightful discussions and collaborative sessions designed to support the development of effective party policies and legislative strategies. It was a prime example of how NALTF’s resources and support can facilitate meaningful conversations and actionable solutions to pressing national challenges.
Participants lauded NALTF for its excellent facilities and the conducive environment it provided for the engagement. The Library’s commitment to fostering an inclusive space for dialogue and its strategic location within the National Assembly Complex make it an ideal venue for such high-profile events.
Looking ahead, NALTF is poised to host more engagements that address various national issues. With a series of lectures, debates, and public policy dialogues planned for the coming months, the Library continues to set the standard for impactful stakeholder engagements.
Rt. Hon. Henry Nwawuba and the team at NALTF are dedicated to ensuring that the Library remains at the forefront of national discourse, providing the necessary support and resources to co-organize events that shape the future of Nigeria’s democracy.
