Gov Nwifuru is my Strongest Supporter, says Opposition Federal Lawmaker

The member representing Ohaozara/Onicha/Ivo Federal Constituency in Ebonyi, Hon. Nkemkanma Kama, said that though he won his election on the platform of the Labour Party, the leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress and governor of the state, Francis Nwifuru, remained one of his strongest supporters in the state.

Briefing journalists in Abakaliki, the federal lawmaker noted that Governor Nwifuru backed him in everything he does.

Kama said: “His Excellency, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru doesn’t discriminate; he backs me in everything I do. He never treated me differently as somebody from another party. In the whole of Ebonyi State, the governor has brought everybody together and nobody is talking about party”.

“So, please, we don’t discuss parties. The governor has broken that jinx. He sees me as Kama; he just wants me to perform. So, I am not a political orphan; I have father, I have powers. Everybody is in tune with what is going on in the state; there is no division, there is no discrimination, there is no crisis. The governor made it so and we are all happy for it”.

He also denied rumours making the round that he would soon defect to the ruling APC, adding that he has not contemplated abandoning his Labour Party.

He stressed that though he was a bona fide member of the APC but he had to leave the party to the Labour Party for the purpose of contesting election in the 2023 general election.

According to him, “I am an APC person in the first instance. I want us to understand that I came from APC. I was in APC, there was no division between me and APC and I never quarreled with APC. I never had an issue with APC, I had no issues with the APC whatsoever in the first instance.

“I just woke up one day and decided to run an election on a different platform. It doesn’t affect my relationship with where I am coming from and it shouldn’t affect relationship of where I went to”.

The lawmaker however noted that his romance with the APC was for the best interest of his constituency.

Harping on his stewardship since he assumed office, Kama said that about 16,500 persons have benefited from his free medical outreach programme.

He added that 400 farmers have been assisted with farming inputs and other interventions in the education and human capital empowerments.
