In a devastating turn of events, His Royal Highness, King Dr Appolus Chu, an esteemed board member of the National Council of Women Societies of Nigeria (NCWs), is saddened by the sudden passing of the organisation’s president, Hajiya Lami Lau.


The news of her untimely demise, which occurred on June 4, 2024, after a brief illness, has sent shockwaves of grief throughout the nation.
King Chu, still reeling from the loss of his beloved wife, Queen Emereowi Njideka Appolus Chu, just a month prior, had been deeply touched by Hajiya Lami’s compassionate presence at her funeral service on May 10th in Eleme Kingdom. The king had been consoled by her words of comfort and support during his time of mourning, only to be struck by the cruel hand of fate once again.


Hajiya Lami Lau, a trailblazing leader and dedicated servant to the NCWs, had been instrumental in revitalising the organisation, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of countless women and families.
