Glovo Hosts Inaugural ‘Courier Day’, Unveils Glovo+ Loyalty Program

In a landmark event, Glovo, a leading multi-category app, hosted the first edition of ‘Courier Day’ in Lagos, Nigeria, in partnership with Money Africa and Opay. The two-day event aimed to empower couriers with financial literacy skills and launched Glovo+, a loyalty program offering various benefits.

Comprehensive training sessions covered budgeting, saving, investment strategies, financial planning, and retirement planning, equipping couriers with essential skills for the digital economy. The launch of Glovo+ offers advantages like fuel vouchers, grocery discounts, and insurance benefits, enhancing couriers’ professional lives and acknowledging their dedication.

Glovo Nigeria’s General Manager, Lamide Akinola, emphasized the company’s commitment to creating value for stakeholders and building a thriving ecosystem. Chidera Akwuba, Head of Government & Public Relations, Glovo Sub-Saharan Africa, highlighted the initiative’s impact, celebrating outstanding couriers and empowering them with valuable skills.

Ijeoma Beatrice Nwachukwu, Business Development Manager, App and Cards at Opay, stressed the importance of financial literacy for couriers’ personal and professional growth.

The event concluded with a friendly football match, fostering camaraderie among couriers. The Courier Day initiative and Glovo+ are part of Glovo’s Couriers Pledge, launched in October 2023 to enhance social rights and benefits for couriers. The pledge has positively impacted nearly 300 couriers in Nigeria and over 4,000 across Glovo’s operational countries.

Glovo’s commitment to courier development also includes G-Learning, a platform offering free online courses on leadership, management, well-being, and digital skills, making resources easily accessible to its users.
