Wofai Samuel Moderates Rivers State Economic and Investment Summit

The Government of Rivers, recently convened a two-day Rivers State Economic and Investment Summit (RSEIS), themed “Rivers Emerge: Advancing Pathways to Economic Growth and Sustainability.”
Held at the Obi Wali International Conference Centre in Port Harcourt, in attendance were the Governor of Rivers State – His Excellency Sir Siminalayi Fubara, The Deputy Governor of Rivers State – Dr. Ngozi Odu, Former Governor of Cross River State – Mr. Donald Duke, 14th Emir of Kano – His Royal Highness, Emir Sanusi Lamido, Former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria – Mr. Kingsley Moghalu, Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Representatives of Government from other States, Diplomats, Corporate Stalwarts among citizens of the State.


The State is the center-point of the oil and gas industry in West Africa and one of the wealthiest oil producing centers in Africa.
In a statement made by Wofai Samuel, she affirmed that “Rivers State accounts for over 40% of crude oil production onshore in the country and 100% of liquefied gas that the country exports.


The State also is the second largest economy in Nigeria, and with a nominal gross domestic product (GDP) of over $28.4bn, the State’s economy ranks in the top 25 economies in Africa comparable to countries like Botswana, Rwanda, and Gabon”.


Wofai further stated that the State has a relatively robust infrastructure, including good roads, two seaports, an international airport, and a free trade zone, and with a population of over seven million indigenously diverse, educated, highly hospitable people, and a business-friendly environment, which makes it open and ready for investments.”
The Rivers State Economic & Investment Summit (RSIS) is an annual event dedicated to showcasing the vast investment opportunities in Rivers State, Nigeria.

Organized by the Rivers State Government in collaboration with key stakeholders, RSIS serves as a platform for promoting economic growth, fostering partnerships, and attracting local and international investors to the region, His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, Governor of the State, stated that the summit was a significant step towards accelerated development.

The Governor said Rivers State provides several investment opportunities across diverse sectors of our economy, including oil and gas, agriculture and agro-processing, manufacturing, hospitality and tourism, education, ICT, and healthcare, infrastructure development, glass products, and garments production, and power generation and transmission, to mention a few.


With the Event aired Live on the Country’s leading Television Stations, Wofai Samuel expressed gratitude to the Government of Rivers, and all stakeholders involved with making the event a success, including the Event’s Consultant, Mr. Oluwaseyi Onasanya.


Samuel is the current Acting Director-General of the Nigerian-American Chamber of Commerce. She recently implemented an inbound Trade Mission with the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunities, Government of Illinois, U.S.A., and is ranked among the top 100 Career Women in Africa in 2024.
