EzeIgbo Ghana Eulogies Uzodimma on his Timely Intervention in Rescuing Imo girls Trafficked to Ghana

In its avowed commitment to protect lives and property of Imo citizens both at home and in the diaspora, the Imo State Government under His Excellency Distinquished Sen. Hope Uzodimma, through a timely constituted state delegation led by the duo of Rt. Hon. Amara Chyna Iwuanyanwu, Deputy Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, and Hon. Mrs. Nkechi Ugwu, Imo Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, successfully rescued the Imo underaged girls who were victims of human trafficking in faraway Ghana; after a series of meetings with the Ghanaian Police, Acting Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana, Amb.

Adeoye Ifedayo, Chief Calistus Elozieuwa, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Nigerians In Diaspora Organisation (NIDO- Ghana), and Mrs. Abike Dabiri -Erewa , Chairman of Nigerians In Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), 4th Estate Reporters- Ghana reported.

Reacting to the development of the Imo State government ‘s timely intervention and successful rescue of the underaged girls caught in the web of human trafficking in Ghana, the diasporan King of the Igbo community in Ghana, His Royal Majesty Eze Dr. Amb. Chukwudi Jude Ihenetu, who received the Imo State Government delegation on arrival to Ghana , commended His Excellency, Gov. Hope Uzodimma, CON, for his timely intervention in rescuing the 10 underaged Nigerian victims of human trafficking; 8 of which came from the Orlu part of Imo but ferried to Ghana for alleged transactional sex business, describing the governor as the father of “Modern Democracy in Imo State and a leader with functional conscience.”

Ezeigbo Ghana, Ihenetu, while addressing the media, has urged ndigbo and Nigerians travelling to Ghana and other parts of the world to desist from illcit activities that usually paint the country in a bad light and get them into troubles as they will always be spotted out by the relevant authorities and security agencies.

He however, advised that those who wish to travel out of the country for more greener pastures should endeavor to have proper documentation to avoid unpleasant consequences that keep them stranded, even as he condemned in strong terms the illegal activities of human trafficking.

Commending the governor for his impressive outing in the areas of infrastructural development, road construction, human capacity building, peace, Ezeigbo Ghana urged parents to monitor the whereabouts of their children, and encouraged collaborative efforts to ensure traffickers are identified and prosecuted.

He also advised the youths to avoid shortcut to success but should rather trust the process by availing themselves of the opportunity of attending a series of ICT skill-up acquisitions programe of the state government and related capacity building initiatives.
