Eco2rybe Africa Platform has launched a $250 billion Art2Green Africa Initiative program to monetise the creative arts, crafts, music, and traditions of over 2,500 African tribes.
The Chief Executive Officer and Climate Finance Expert of the Art2Green Africa marketplace, Victor Agih in a statement issued Monday said the aim was to establish a massive ecosystem conservation fund.
He explained that the Art2Green represents an innovative model for domestic resource mobilisation by positioning Africa’s creative economy as an engine for financing environmental projects and green entrepreneurship.
Agih noted: “A visionary new initiative is harnessing the power of Africa’s vibrant cultural heritage to drive sustainable development and environmental conservation across the continent. Launching today, the Art2Green Africa Initiative is a first-of-its-kind program launched by the Eco2rybe Africa Platform to monetize the creative arts, crafts, music, and traditions of over 2,500 African tribes to establish a massive ecosystem conservation fund.
“As a Pan-African culture and creative economy festival focused on sustainability, Art2Green will showcase the richness of African artistry on a global stage while using proceeds to bankroll high-impact green initiatives.
“For too long, the world has overlooked the incredible cultural capital that abounds across our continent. The Art2Green Africa Initiative will unlock that vibrant creative wealth as a sustainable funding source to restore ecosystems, build resilient communities, and empower a new generation of African environmental leaders.”
Agih added that among the major environmental and sustainable development initiatives Art2Green would fund are: Great Green Wall: Planting 250 billion trees to combat desertification; Green Jobs Africa: Creating 25 million new Eco-Marshal jobs in environmental management.
Others are: Health e-surance: Establishing 250 million digital health wallets for underserved populations; Greenpreneurship Africa: Providing 2.5 million pitch grants to green entrepreneurs; Clean Cookstoves: Distributing 250 million eco-friendly stoves to reduce emissions; Africa Green Volunteers: Recruiting 100 million eco-citizen volunteers for conservation and Climate Education and Leadership: Offering 100 million eco-education and climate leadership scholarships.
Agih stressed: “The Art2Green Africa Initiative would host its inaugural marketplace festival to drive its mandate of “Arts for Green Responsibility to End Ecosystem Degradation” to mobilise $250 billion towards climate financing and Green empowerment in Africa.”
He noted that the initiative would tap into the incredible richness of African culture and creativity as a sustainable engine to fund environmental conservation and economic empowerment across the continent.
“By unleashing the power of our arts, crafts, music, dance and storytelling traditions, we can drive massive investment into restoring ecosystems, creating green jobs, and building resilient communities,” Agih said
