ICAN-LEDS Chairman, Olufunmilayo Olaniyi’s Tempting Profile
The recently emerged Chairman of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria Lekki and District Society (ICAN-LEDS), Olufunmilayo Olaniyi is a woman to behold and a model for many reasons.
Succeeding Gbenga Oyewole, Olaniyi has acted in various capacities in (ICAN-LEDS) before her elevated role as the 3rd Chairman of the noble district.
Described as a visionary leader and go- getter,
Olaniyi’s career spans over 16 years in tax compliance, advisory services, business development and strategic partnerships. She has proven her mettle in both public and private sectors.
An alumna of Nexford University, Washington DC, Olaniyi also holds a degree in Mass Communication from the University of Lagos as well as M.Sc from the same institution.
The brilliant tax expert has established her footprint in the accounting profession, thus recognised as a major asset in the profession given her impressive track record.
Her roles and delivery in various offices provide proof of this. In her current office as the Senior Vice President, Business Development of Flutter Waves, Olaniyi midas touch is quite conspicuous on the company’s growing profile.
This is equally evident in her previous leadership roles at Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS), KPMG, and Andersen. Olaniyi’s expertise was also proven across the shores of Nigeria, overseeing tax and accounting activities of notable firms in Angola, Sierra Leone and Ghana where she brought to bare her prowess in areas as withholding tax, value-added tax, personal income tax, stamp duty, urban property tax and corporate income tax.
Attesting to Olaniyi’s value during her investiture ceremony in Lagos, recently, Chairman of the Investiture Organizing Committee and Vice Chairman of the District, Patrick Akamiokhor said, ” She, is a good networker, a socialite, a giver and lover of God”.
Olaniyi at the investiture occasion also unveiled her agenda targeting growth of ICAN-LEDs.
Top on her agenda included: transformation of the District to category A, inaugurating the foundation for the building of a permanent office space, digitalization of the district’s database and operations and acquiring an 18-seater bus for the district’s operations ,among others.
Outside career, Olaniyi is a humanitarian cum philanthropist that has left her marks on history. She is a member of international non-governmental organization, NGO, IA-Foundation and recently founded an NGO that caters to the less privileged in areas of education, health and economic empowerment.
