Stakeholders Unite to Tackle Nigeria’s Environmental Sustainability Challenges

In commemoration of World Environment Day, key stakeholders in Nigeria convened to address the pressing issue of sustainable packaging and its impact on the nation’s environmental sustainability. The event brought together industry leaders from Tetra Pak West Africa, Food and Beverage Recycling Alliance (FBRA), Nestle, and others to discuss the importance of a circular economy and effective policies for a sustainable future.

With Nigeria facing an imminent environmental crisis due to packaging format pollution, the stakeholders emphasized the need for collective action. Clement Sunday, Marketing and Portfolio Director for Tetra Pak West Africa, stressed the importance of collaboration in building a circular economy and ensuring a sustainable environment for all.

Agharese Onaghise, Executive Director of FBRA, highlighted the alliance’s remarkable growth and the need for policy advocacy to address the challenges facing African countries. Victoria Uwadoka, Head of Corporate Communications and Sustainability at Nestle Nigeria Plc, emphasized the company’s commitment to promoting a circular economy for PET in Nigeria.

The stakeholders agreed that sustainable development practices are crucial for Nigeria’s environmental well-being, economic prosperity, social cohesion, and political stability. By working together, they aim to create a more sustainable future for all.”
