Soccer is seen by many as the major sporting events in the world.

Needless to say, football skills development in many nations across the globe has contributed to enriching young men and women who have got the talents.

Unfortunately, football in Nigeria has been a mixed bag; cycling between farce and failure as most people who didn’t go through foundation classes like football academy, and who are not thoroughly groomed in the game only leverage on their rich contacts to play at the various football club sides, or are featured in the national team which pose a big challenge towards football development and social- reengineering.

However, a candle of hope has flickered in as a Nigerian diplomat, business mogul, philantropist, and sports enthusiast, Amb. Dr. Tochil Nwaneri (Global Peace Ambassador), through the Tochil Football Academy, is giving an open invitation to all under 17 Nigerian youths across the 36 states of the federation to Imo State for football screening.

In the heart of Imo State, a quiet revolution is taking place. A trail blazing football academy has sprung up, turning the state into a hotbed of soccer talent as Tochil Football Academy is setting a new pace, becoming a beacon of hope, providing young sports enthusiasts with a pathway to sucess in the game of football.

Speaking with the Publisher of 4th Estate Reporters, Njoku Macdonald Obinna, on a telephone interview from his New York City residence, United States, H.E. Amb. Dr. Tochil Nwaneri, Imo born Nigerian Diplomat, and Chairmam of Tochil Football Academy, opined that football academies are powerful veritable tools in nurturing raw talents into global soccer sensations, from local fields to international pitches as these academies have become a beacon of hope and success, shaping the future of football development in Nigeria.

Making a few references about the spotlight on prominent football academies like Pepsi Football Academy; known for producing stars like Mikel Obi, Taye Academy Owerri; that produced Kelechi Iheanacho, Ultimate Strikers Academy in Lagos that produced Victor Oshimhen, who is blazing the trail at his Napoli club side in Italy, Amb.

Tochil Nwaneri maintained that with the assemblage of experienced football coaches, technical advisers, and tutors at the Tochil Football Academy, many raw talents would be discovered, polished, and groomed, while creating opportunities for them at the various club sides in the Nigerian Premiere League for trials as well as at feeders clubs in Europe.

The football screening will hold on June 30,-July 7 2024. The venue of the event will be Amiri Central School Stadium, Orlu East LGA, Imo State, at 9am.
