Family Remembers Late Senator Ajimobi

Memory is the simplest path to immortality. This sentiment resonates deeply as Florence Ajimobi and her family commemorated the late Senator Abiola Ajimobi, the towering figure who once shook Oyo State politics and beyond.

The Ajimobi family holds a prominent position in Oyo State, with Madam Florence as the steadfast matriarch, guiding their legacy forward. Currently, the State is in a sombre mood as they reflect on the memory of their late patriarch who passed away on June 25, 2020, after battling complications from COVID-19.

Family, friends, associates, and admirers recently gathered in memory of the late senator. This fourth memorial took the form of Fidau prayers held at the former governor’s Ibadan residence a few days ago.

Before his untimely demise, Senator Ajimobi’s influence was strong and far-reaching. He served as governor of Oyo State from 2011 to 2019, becoming the first person to hold the office twice consecutively. More than that, his tenure was marked by significant strides in infrastructure development and governance reforms, earning him the moniker “Architect of the Modern Oyo State.”

Even after his passing, Senator Ajimobi’s influence endures and is one of the reasons the Ajimobi family has continued to shape political discourse in Oyo. In fact, the late governor’s vision for unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC) remains a rallying point for party leaders and supporters alike, as evidenced by recent efforts to consolidate and prepare for future elections.

Even though the family honours his memory with initiatives like the Senator Abiola Ajimobi Foundation’s educational grants, it is the weight of the late Senator Ajimobi’s politics and humble attitude that endears the family to all Oyo people.
