Why we seek govt’s partnership in mining sector – UBACLE Group

Government at all levels have been urged to do more in exploring the abundant solid minerals available in the country.

The Chief Executive Officer, CEO, of UBACLE Group, Uba Michael made this known when speaking at the ongoing Nigeria Oil and Gas conference in Abuja.

UBACLE Group which is involved in a range of businesses in different sectors, also operates in the solid minerals industry.

He said while the government is doing what it can to use gains from mineral deposits to drive economic growth, it also needs the contribution of private players to help carry the still developing sector.

He said, “In recent times, Nigeria has become some sort of Mecca where foreign countries run to for their energy and solid minerals needs.

“It is without a doubt that with the quantity of mineral resources this country possesses, we should be in the situation we are in right now.

“The Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Mr. Dele Alake, recently said that Nigeria currently possesses a deposit of mineral products worth $750bn. That is a huge industry that could turn the economic fortunes of a developing country like ours.

“As of today, there are still minerals in this country that have not been discovered. That is how blessed we are. Those discovered have not been fully utilised.

“Government cannot do it alone, and that is why we at UBACLE Group have seen the need to partner with the government, both at all levels, to see how we can contribute to helping the sector attain its full potential.

“We are aware of ongoing reforms by the federal government aimed at revitalising the sector and this is why we want to assist in driving these changes.” He said

He further called on the federal and state governments to partner with UBACLE Group for investments to foster economic prosperity.
