Esan Youths Declare Okpebholo Next Governor Of Edo State

In a bold show of unity and determination, Esan youths have declared Monday Okpebholo the next governor of Edo State, confidently stating that his victory in the upcoming September 21 governorship election is a foregone conclusion.

Speaking on behalf of the Esan Youths Movement, Pastor Jonathan Omozokpia said Okpebholo’s governorship ambition is an idea whose time has come, and he is the only candidate who can bring change and accountability to the state. “Okpebholo has succeeded in building a network of friends across Nigeria and abroad, and he is a darling of the grassroots. His governorship is practically signed, sealed, and delivered,” Omozokpia declared.

The youths dismissed Asue Ighodalo, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, as a stranger in Esanland and a complete disadvantage.

“Ighodalo’s governorship ambition is a failed project, and we won’t let him hijack the future of our dear state,” they said.
The youths also praised the Federal High Court’s decision to invalidate the PDP primary election that produced Ighodalo, calling it a victory for democracy.

“The judiciary has saved Edo State from impunity and oppression. We commend the court for upholding justice and ensuring that the will of the people prevails,” they said.

In a stinging critique, the youths criticized Governor Godwin Obaseki for his failed leadership, saying he has disappointed the good people of Edo State. “Obaseki’s administration has been an era of retrogression, marked by broken promises and shattered dreams. We need a new leader who can restore hope and dignity to our state,” they said.
The youths also praised PDP members who recently defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), signalling a shift in support towards Okpebholo. “We welcome our brothers and sisters who have seen the light and joined the winning team. Together, we shall make Edo State great again,” they said.

 
With their declaration, the Esan youths have sent a clear message that Okpebholo is the preferred candidate for the governorship seat, and his victory will usher in a new era of greatness for Edo State.
As the election approached, the youths vowed to mobilize support for Okpebholo, ensuring that his governorship ambition became a reality.
