Afrifresh Launches E-Commerce Platform For Nigerian Food Products

… targets diaspora markets

Afrifresh, Inc., a Maryland, US-based eCommerce platform enabling access to authentic Nigerian food products, has announced the recent launch of its digital platform.

Targeted at African retailers, restaurants and caterers in the diaspora, the website is optimized to connect Nigerian-food businesses to a broad range of authentic and high-quality products categorized into staples, baked goods and crispy treats. Some of the products available on the platform include Ijebu Garri, plantain flour, yam flour, up to five bread variants and crispy treats like Salted and sugar-coated groundnuts amongst others. The platform also stocks a broad range of popular food products including Bournvita, Maltina, Malta Guiness, Tom Tom amongst others.

Speaking on the launch, Abiodun Adeniyi, General Manager, Commercial Operations at the company, said: “one of the biggest challenges most African restaurants and food enterprise operating in the US or the wider global community face is the absence of affordable, wholesale priced, quality products for their operations. They either scour through several markets with no guarantee of the product quality, nor assurance that they will get the full complement of their needs. Many resort to importing at highly prohibitive rates, sometimes with significant logistical challenges.”

“Afrifresh is bridging this gap by providing a credible marketplace for authentic and top quality African food products so that our customers can focus on their core business. As an e-Commerce company operating in the US, we are leveraging technology and our direct access to suppliers in Africa to ensure that orders are delivered within 48 hours. We are optimistic that as we continue to support both existing and emerging African food businesses in the diaspora in this way, they will be better positioned to serve their own customers and grow their ventures,” he added.

Afrifresh offers a seamless, fast and affordable option for African retailers, restaurants and caterers to buy authentic and top quality Aftican food products in the diaspora. The service is currently available for businesses within the Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia areas of the United States. Plans are underway to extend to other US cities.
