Rotary Club of Adeniyi Jones Installs Second President, Promises Greater Service to Humanity

The Rotary Club of Adeniyi Jones has entered a new chapter with the installation of its second president, Rotarian (Otunba) Emeka Wilson Metus . The club’s first president, Rotarian Ade Adebowale, who led since its inception two years ago, handed over the leadership baton to Rotarian Metus* in a grand ceremony attended by a host of dignitaries, Rotary district leaders, Rotary members, partners, and community leaders.
Chartered in 2022 Rotary Year, the Rotary Club of Adeniyi Jones can be described as is one of the newest active Rotary Clubs in Nigeria, as the club, despite its recent establishment, has already made significant strides with impactful community projects, including *donation of teaching and writing materials to schools, donation of First Aid boxes with primary first aid treatment medicaments, provision of face masks and hand sanitizers, support to small and medium scale enterprise women with micro credit loans and grinding machines and the recent provision Shelter Kiosk for traffic control officials along Adeniyi Jones Ikeja, to improve their effectiveness in easing traffic.
The installation ceremony was marked by a palpable sense of celebration and anticipation, highlighted by inspiring speeches, recognitions, and the unveiling of strategic initiatives aimed at fostering sustainable growth and positive change in the Adeniyi Jones area of Lagos and beyond.
In his inaugural address, the newly installed president, Rotarian Emeka Wilson Metus, presented his ambitious vision for the Rotary Club of Adeniyi Jones. He emphasized the club’s commitment to enhancing community welfare through strategic interventions and partnerships.
According to him, _” In this Rotary year, I look forward to working closely with each of you. Together, we will tackle the pressing issues that our focus addresses, expand our outreach, and make a tangible difference in the lives of those we serve.”
Rotarian Metus revealed that under his leadership, the club plans to embark on several impactful projects including the donation of insecticide-treated mosquito nets and bed sheets to the Adeniyi Jones Health Centre for newborns and mothers, provision of teaching aids and materials to primary and secondary schools within Adeniyi Jones, Ikeja, and donation of school uniforms and sandals to a good number of pupils and students.
According to him, the club also aims to offer financial support and micro-credit loans to women running small and medium enterprises, engage in HIV/AIDS awareness campaigns and malaria screening, and continue its active participation in polio eradication efforts.
Additionally, Rotarian Metus revealed plans to invest in peace building, conflict prevention and resolution, donate water treatment chemicals to existing boreholes, renovate toilet facilities, and provide toiletries to identified areas within Adeniyi Jones.
“We will continue to strive for excellence in all that we do, seeking not only to meet but to exceed our goals through innovation, collaboration, and unrelenting dedication to our cause ,” he promised.
Further amplifying Rotary’s impact, Rotarian Assistant Governor Sylvia Abdalla of the Rotary Club of Ikeja GRA, who represented the District Governor of Rotary District 9111 Nigeria, Rotarian Dr. Wole Kukoyi, emphasized Rotary’s global mission of doing good in the world, and encouraged members and guests to embody Rotary ideals, utilizing their ” Four Ts of Treasure, Talent, Time, and Trust.” in serving humanity more, as that would help make the world a better place.
The event also saw the presentation of awards to outstanding club members and a special recognition for the Charter President, Rotarian Ade Adebowale, who was praised for his exemplary leadership and commitment to the club’s formation, sustenance, and growth.
With Rotarian Emeka Wilson Metus at the helm, like his predecessor, Rotn. Adebowale, the Rotary Club of Adeniyi Jones is poised to continue its mission of service to humanity, bringing about lasting positive change in the community and beyond.
