End Bad Governance Protest:South East Youths Ain’t Involved In Planned Exercise -Eric Uwakwe

Youths from the South East geopolitical zone of Nigeria have advocated for peace and tranquility in all the 36 States of the federation.

This was even as the youths have denied having any clandestine motives towards joining the agitation for a nationwide protest in August 1st, 2024.

Recall that for the past few weeks, the buzz on different social media was a proposed protest by Nigeria youths tagged “end bad government”.

The planned action we learnt, may not be unconnected to the hike in prices of goods, foods and other products in Nigeria.

However, in view of this, the youths under the aegis of the Shared Prosperity Youth Movement (SPYM), South East zone, have made it point clear that nothing concerns them with whatever protest being propagated by few aggrieved persons.

Addressing Journalists in Owerri on Wednesday, the Director General of SPYM, Hon Dr Eric Uwakwe JP, stated that whoever that came up with such plans ab initio never meant well for Nigeria.

Adding that the “endbadgovernment” protest projected cannot be divorced from few persons who feel they cannot stay without power or recognitions for gratification.

Uwakwe advised the progenitors of the said protest to have a rethink as that may throw the nation in a chaotic state.

He avered that bad eggs in the society would not only cause mayhem through it, but would see the opportunity as avenue to cause dissaffection among zones.

Hon Uwakwe also recalled that while the 2020/2021 Endsars protest could be said to be of good intentions, it threw the nation off balance that it took God’s grace to calm the tension it raised.

On this, he was of the opinion that President Bola Ahmad Tinubu’s administration should be given more time to showcase its good policies and programs, stressing that one year is not enough for anyone to perform magic considering the condition he met it.

“On behalf of the South East Shared Prosperity Youth Movement, we use this opportunity to say NO to any form of protest. This is not the ripe time for it, at least at the end of 4 years if he didn’t lead to our satisfaction, any protest can now suffice.

“Just this week, the President signed into Law the South East Development Commission, an establishment geared towards the growth and development of the States in South East, Imo, Anambra, Enugu, Abia, and Ebonyi. Similar was also in other zone. So tell me, what on basis would a right thinking person go out to protest against this government?

“In South East, we have proactive governors and Leaders. Even the Ohaneze Ndigbo is against the said protest, so we are”, Eric Uwakwe submitted.
