With science and technology, the business world is riding roughshod on grounds hitherto dreaded by entrepreneurs. From man’s venture into space to driverless cars, innovators seems to be just starting. This might have driven Atilola Moronfolu to mull revolutionising the haircare industry with a blend of technology and science.

As a multi-faceted entrepreneur and a certified trichologist, Moronfolu has dedicated over 13 years to advancing haircare practices and providing innovative solutions to hair-related issues. Her journey and achievements make her a beacon of inspiration in the haircare industry.

Her ventures are diverse, yet interconnected, reflecting her comprehensive approach to hair care. She is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of three groundbreaking companies: African Naturalistas, Pureformula Innovations and The Good Hair Tribe. Each of these companies plays a pivotal role in her mission to improve hair health and literacy.

African Naturalistas is a cosmetic manufacturing company that produces a range of haircare products. These products, manufactured in a factory approved by the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control, in Lagos State, Nigeria, are sold worldwide, helping women achieve healthy hair.

Moronfolu’s expertise as a cosmetic scientist ensures that these products are of the highest quality, addressing various hair concerns effectively.

Pureformula Innovations is her latest venture, focusing on contract manufacturing and private labelling. This company provides small-scale businesses with the infrastructure needed to produce hair cosmetic brands. By offering these services, Moronfolu is empowering other entrepreneurs to enter the haircare market, thereby expanding the industry’s scope and reach.

The Good Hair Tribe is where this entrepreneur’s passion for education and technology shines the brightest. This tech-driven haircare literacy and coaching company serves about 100 members with over 90 proprietary hair science lessons. It not only educates but also certifies hair coaches worldwide through its comprehensive Hair Coaching Certification Course. This course includes the proprietary Hair Coaching Framework module, the Hair Coaching Business module, and several hair science modules, ensuring that hair coaches are well-equipped to help their clients achieve optimal hair health.

Her influence extends beyond her businesses. As a certified trichologist and advanced cosmetic scientist, she collaborates with leading hair surgeons, dermatologists, doctors, and hairstylists globally. These partnerships enable her to deliver cutting-edge hair care solutions and treatments. At the African Naturalistas Hair Clinic, she manages and treats over 50 hair loss issues and scalp disorders, offering personalised consultations and regimens.

The educational outreach continues through her YouTube channel, ‘Ask The Trichologist’, where she addresses common haircare concerns and shares her knowledge freely. This platform allows her to reach a broader audience, providing valuable insights and solutions to hair problems.

In addition to her business endeavours, Moronfolu is committed to social development. She launched the Females in Ed-Tech Internship Programme to bridge the tech skills gap among young Nigerian women. This programme provides the necessary skills and opportunities for women to succeed in the tech industry, demonstrating her dedication to empowering the next generation.

When asked her reason for creating the internship programme, she said, “I have observed a scarcity of tech skills among females, required to run and operate Ed-Tech companies like The Good Hair Tribe. This drove me to start what I can to plug this hole, using my existing organiation.”

Atilola Moronfolu’s innovative use of technology, combined with her scientific expertise and entrepreneurial spirit, is transforming the haircare industry. Her work not only addresses immediate haircare needs but also paves the way for future advancements, making her a true trailblazer in the field.
