Eami’s Place of Variety, Unique Pieces
It was a wonderful and inspiring evening recently as celebrity guests, friends, fashion and beauty lovers joined in celebrating the official launch of Bond Hair and opening of Eami’s Place, a souvenir and gift store, in Victoria Island, Lagos. The atmosphere quite delightful as music lightly permeates the place.
Jointly owned by sisters, Edinyanga Okopide and Itoro Okopide, both culture and travel enthusiasts, Eami’s Place stocks variety of unique pieces from around the world; Asia, Europe, and Africa. The store which first opened online offers souvenirs and gift items that cut across audiences.
“I am passionate about travelling and she (Edinyanga Okopide) also has a travel company. So when we travel, we get the pieces then we bring them down here. You could see they are very limited, they are not plenty. They are just few handpicked pieces that are very unique,” said Itoro Okopide.
“Everybody that loves gift items is our target. We have items here that cut across all audiences; it depends on what you like. We have vintage wines from South Africa that make up our gift boxes, we have Arabic pieces, we also have bundles pieces from Jo burg and then we have bundles from Russia,” she added.
“It’s something that started a couple of years ago. I had first started by having an online store where souvenirs from around the world was being sold. I found out that Nigerians, well a couple of people, when they travel they were not interactive a lot with the culture,” Edinyanga Okopide explains.
“And it just used to upset me. Fast forward to this year, my beautiful sister literarily just ran with the intuition. We just really put it together and said we wanted a physical store.
“So people could come in they could see the pieces, they could touch, they could feel it, they could see how authentic these pieces are because it’s easy for us to have things from around the world but then we shop off some vendors that just get these things from some countries.
“But these were pieces that were actually curated by us. It was handpicked, and we thought somebody would love it and it would make amazing offer. So apart from the souvenir pieces, the cultural pieces, we do have the hair bundles as well that my sister is also proud of, the Bond Hair.”
