Edu’s Suspension: President Tinubu, Appoint and Restore Our Ministerial Slot, Equity and Fairness Group Urges

Citizens of Cross River State under the aegis of Equity, Justice and Fairness (EJF) , have urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to appoint a noble and credible Son or Daughter of the state to fill the vacant position of zonal minister for the South South Region. 

Since the return to Democratic rule in 1999, Cross River State is benefiting from the zonal ministerial slot for the very first time, thus for equity and fairness and in the interest of proportional representation, zonal ministerial appointments are rotated between states.

Akwa Ibom, Delta, Rivers , Edo and Bayelsa states in the South South Region have all benefitted from the zonal slot in the time past, Cross River is taking its turn for the first time. 

The fact that Beta Edu, suspended minister of Humanitarian Affairs was alleged to have been involved in corruption scandal, does not obliterate the zonal slot graciously allocated to Cross River by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration. 

Its been eight months since we lost our second representation at the Federal Executive Council FEC, we therefore make this passionate appeal to Mr. President to restore our second ministerial seat, the suspended minister is not the only APC loyalist from Cross River State, and we do not think that she must be returned if she is complicit.
