FG advised to explore new ways to distribute palliative to poor Nigerians

The Planter of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Grace of Mercy Prayer Mountain worldwide, Prophet Sam Olu Alo, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to find new means of distributing palliatives to poor Nigerians.

The cleric said the Federal Government must act fast by acceding to the plights of grieving Nigerians, mostly youths who embarked on a nationwide protest recently.

Prophet Alo said this at the weekend at Efon Alaaye in Efon Local Government Area of Ekiti State.

The Cleric said he had observed that the palliatives being given to the people to cushion the effects of the prevailing economic hardship in the country arising from oil subsidy removal might have been going into the wrong hands instead of the poorest of the poor in the society.

According to him, “Palliatives has not helped anyone. It has been going into wrong hands, though the President has good intentions to see it being given to the vulnerable in the society.

“If the President could find another thing that would benefit everybody, this would be better. Unlike in the Western World where both the elderly and the youth have bank account numbers and this helps their leaders to know the poor and the rich over there.

“Through this, helping hands could be getting across to every one of them. And the so-called palliatives might not even get to some villages to enable them to know the impacts being made by the President in alleviating their suffering.”

He suggested that the money allocated for the purchase of the palliatives could also be used to assist farmers, saying there are food crops that could be planted within a few months and bring appreciable yields.

While admonishing the youth ahead of future protests, Prophet Alo cautioned them not to be violent or loot properties belonging to private owners and the government in getting their demands.

“Youth should not let their protest degenerate to the level of being hijacked by hoodlums. They should not give room for “Satan” to hijack the protest. While government on its part should listen to the yearnings and grievances of the people in this regard,” he said.

He urged the state governors to implement the newly approved N70,000 minimum wage for Nigerian workers.

The cleric also cautioned the governors against engaging in unprofitable ventures and anti-people policies that could aggravate the grievances of the youth.
