Ondo: Aiyedatiwa’s Camp Woos Mimiko, Hails Mass Defection from PDP

Impressed with the defection of 30 loyalists of former Ondo State Governor, Dr. Segun Mimiko, from opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), the campaign body for Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has said Mimiko will be received with open arms into the APC.

Mimiko is currently a chieftain of the PDP.

In a statement issued on Sunday by the Director of Contacts and Engagement for Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organisation Foot Soldiers Independent Council (LACO-FSIC), Dr. Marindoti Oludare, the Aiyedatiwa campaign body said the 30 defectors from the PDP were wise enough to dump their party for the APC having “seen the light that guides our vision for a prosperous future”.

Oludare stated, “Today, we stand on the threshold of a significant moment in the political landscape of our beloved Ondo State as we welcome our brothers and sisters who have recently made the brave decision to leave the opposition PDP and join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“These individuals, who were once close associates of the former governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, have seen the light that guides our vision for a prosperous future. Like the stars that led the three wise men to the manger, their journey has brought them to the APC, where the true light resides.

He said the Aiyedatiwa team appreciated the defectors’ patriotism and their recognition of the necessity of the painful but essential reforms that Nigeria is currently undergoing.

“Their willingness to work not just for the future of our beloved nation but also for the prosperity of future generations is commendable.

“By joining the APC, they have aligned themselves with a period of progress and renewal, and their brave decision will be remembered and appreciated by generations to come,” Oludare applauded.

He also beckoned on former Governor Mimiko to follow suit, stating, “The legacy of Dr. Olusegun Mimiko is one that leaves the people of Ondo State with a deep sense of nostalgia.”

According to him, Mimiko’s tenure as Ondo State governor was marked by compassionate leadership and a commitment to the welfare of the people.

“He (Mimiko) was a cogent administrator, a leader of Afenifere principles, and his achievements continue to resonate with the people of this great state.

“We hold high optimism that whenever Dr. Mimiko decides to return home to the APC, he will be welcomed with open arms, as the legacy of his political struggles and triumphs, which include defeating an incumbent and revitalising the opposition, is a narrative that is in tandem with the very history of the APC.

“We believe he belongs here, and we eagerly look forward to welcoming him with all the grandeur and earth-shaking significance that such a monumental defection deserves,” the LACO-FSIC director stressed

Oludare also assured the people of Ondo State that the Aiyedatiwa administration “is working tirelessly to turn the tides of our collective fortune”.

“The APC administration has begun the crucial task of redirecting the wealth of this nation—from lining the pockets of the rich and connected back to the hands of the common man, where it rightfully belongs.

“While the impact of these reforms may seem sluggish in the short run, rest assured that their effects will be resounding and long-lasting. Your perseverance and understanding during this period of transition are deeply appreciated.

“Together, we are on the path to a brighter, more prosperous Nigeria, and we will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that the benefits of our efforts are felt by every citizen,” Oludare appraised.
