Nigerian Youths, Drivers of Today’s Progress — Minister
The Minister of State for Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, has described Nigerian youths as not just leaders of tomorrow but the drivers of today’s progress.
He made the assertion during the launch of the ‘National Youth Dialogue – Nigeria’ initiative, a two-day conference on Wednesday, in Abuja.
Olawande highlighted the significance of the National Youth Dialogue, stressing its role in fostering patriotism, unity, and entrepreneurial spirit among Nigerian youths.
The Minister also emphasised the importance of equipping youth with tools, knowledge, and opportunities to thrive in a complex world.
“Our youth are not just the leaders of tomorrow; they are the drivers of today’s progress. It is, therefore, essential that we equip them with the tools, knowledge, and opportunities they need to thrive in an increasingly complex world.
“To achieve these goals, we have outlined five major thematic projects that will be deployed across Nigeria’s 774 Local Government Areas (LGAs). These projects are not mere initiatives; they are strategic interventions designed to create lasting impact at both the local and national levels,” Olawande remarked.
The Co-Covener, Oladele John Nihi, who doubles as Vice President of the Pan-African Youth Union, West Africa, said the conference, themed “Youthful Voices – National Choices, Synergy in Action: Empowering Patriotic Entrepreneurs for a Sustainable Nigeria,” seeks to address the challenges Nigerian youth face, including a 33.3% unemployment rate.
“Through robust discussions, strategic planning, and actionable solutions, the conference aims to equip participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in today’s economy.
“The National Youth Dialogue Conference has three key objectives: promoting patriotism, enhancing entrepreneurship, and fostering synergy among youth leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders.
“The conference is expected to contribute significantly to Nigeria’s socio-economic development by empowering youth to lead and innovate for a sustainable future,” Oladele stated.
