FG Increases Passport Fees

The federal government has given approval to the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) to increase the fees for Nigerian passport.
The 32-page passport which fee goes for N35,000 as from the beginning of next month would be issued at N50,000 while the 64-page passport with ten years validity which presently stands at N70,000 would be issued at N100,000.
The spokesman of NIS, Kenneth Udo, in a statement on Wednesday said the decision was taken as part of efforts to maintain the quality and integrity of the Nigerian Standard Passport.
He noted that the federal government approved the upward review of the fees for the passport effective from 1st September, 2024.
He said: “Based on the review, 32-page Passport booklet with 5 year validity previously charged at Thirty-five Thousand Naira (N35,000.00) will now be Fifty Thousand Naira (N50,000.00) only; while 64-page Passport booklet with 10 year validity which was Seventy Thousand Naira (N70,000.00) will be One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000.00) only.
He however said the fees remain unchanged in Diaspora.
Udo said: “While the Nigeria Immigration Service regrets any inconvenience this increase might cause prospective applicants; it assures Nigerians of unwavering commitment to transparency and quality service delivery at all times.”
