Two-Part Film Lisabi Set to Debut on Netflix, Sequel Out 2025

The gripping new epic film Lisabi: The Uprising will premiere on the streamer September 27, with its sequel, Lisabi: A Legend is Born, coming on the platform in January 2025. With this exciting addition, Netflix continues to buoy the Nollywood scene with its bouquet of rich and exciting new titles.
Spotlighting the life and legacy of the fabled Yoruba hero, Lisabi, the drama promises to captivate audiences with its compelling storyline, dynamic characters, and exceptional production values, marking an exciting entry to Netflix’s diverse content lineup.
Viewers can anticipate a thrilling watch as they see the 18th-century Egba farmer, whose life made lasting impression in the Nigeria history ignite a rebellion against the oppressive Oyo Empire, leveraging the collective power of his fellow farmers and enigmatic abilities.
His defiance, culminating in the defeat of over 6,000 Oyo soldiers, secures Egba’s independence after centuries of subjugation, marking a pivotal moment in Yoruba history. Executive produced by Lateef Adedimeji and directed by Niyi Akinmolayan, Lisabi features a star-studded cast.
The star cast list includes Femi Adebayo, Odunlade Adekola, Ibrahim Itele Yekini, Ibrahim Chattah, Mo Bimpe, Eniola Ajao, Liquorose Afije and Lateef Adedimeji, all of whom have dedicated years to their craft. Netflix subscribers worldwide will be able to experience Lisabi when it makes its streaming debut.
The movie’s addition into the Netflix collection further highlights the platform’s dedication to showcasing diverse and culturally significant stories from around the world. Meanwhile, highly anticipated Nollywood film ‘Tòkunbọ̀’ premiered on Friday, August 23, on the platform.
Directed by Ramsey Nouah, ‘Tòkunbọ̀,’ which is an original story by Story Story Hub and produced by Ramsey Films and Sozo Films. It follows the life of an ex-car smuggler who is given three hours to deliver a government official’s daughter to her captor—or else his family will suffer the consequences.
The cast features some of Nigeria’s most talented actors, led by Gideon Okeke, who plays the titular lead. Others include Chidi Mokeme, Funlola Aofiyebi—Raimi, Nobert Young, Majid Michel, Adunni Ade, Ivie Okujaye, Tosin Adeyemi, Stanley ‘Funnybone’ Chibunna, Darasimi Nadi, and Aaron Sunday.
