Group Backs Call for Wike’s Expulsion from PDP
Says FCT Minster a threat to democracy

The call by the Niger Delta leader and elder statesman, Chief Edwin Clark for the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike to be expelled from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has continued to gain support among groups and individuals in the main opposition party.
A pro-group in the party, known as PDP Frontiers for Change and Progress, said that the party leadership should make haste and kick out Wike from the party, saying that “his type is a disgrace and a threat to democracy”.
The National Coordinator of the group, Hon Emeka Yellow Ikpegbu, told journalists at a press conference in Umuahia, yesterday that the political crisis that has been rocking Rivers State was engendered by the FCT Minister.
According to him, the immediate past governor of Rivers State has taken it upon himself to destabilise the administration of his successor, Governor Sim Fubara, and to also destroy PDP which gave him the platform to attain the height he has reached in politics.
He therefore, urged the PDP faithful not to allow the devilish plot against the party to succeed, saying that they scuttle the plan by “Wike and his goons to destroy PDP.”
The PDP group chided Wike for paying PDP in bad coins after all he has gained from the party, adding that he should allow Governor Fubara and Rivers State to breathe.
According to the national coordinator, it is foolhardy for Wike to be biting the finger that fed him, adding that it was delusional for him to believe that he could still be in control of Rivers affairs after leaving office on completion of eight years as governor.
On the purported campaign against the Chairman, PDP Board of Trustees(BoT), Senator Adolphus Wabara, the group stated that it was a handiwork of political hirelings allegedly paid by Wike to blackmail the former Senate President.
“It is part of Wike’s belated antics in his desperation to negotiate his return to PDP after he has been rejected by the APC,” Ikpegbu said.
He said that the former Rivers governor was obviously piqued by Wabara’s efforts to resolve the crisis in the state by rallying PDP to support Fubara, who is among the governors elected on the party’s platform.
The national coordinator of the PDP group vowed that no amount of blackmail and media campaigns orchestrated by Wike against the BoT chairman would succeed.
Wabara had led other PDP BoT members to Rivers on solidarity visit to the embattled Governor Fubara during which the party elders assured him of their unwavering support.
“There’s no doubt Wike was jolted by the visit by the party elders to the Governor, hence his resort to sponsoring a media campaign through faceless hirelings calling for Senator Wabara’s sack,” Ikpegbu said.
“The visit enjoys the full support of PDP progressives across the geopolitical zones”, he added, assuring that the Wabara must go campaign would burst like a balloon pinched with a pin.
He urged other stakeholders of the party, especially PDP governors to unite behind the BoT members in their genuine efforts to reposition the party for landslide victory in 2027.
He said:”Wike should be ashamed of himself that at his level, he volunteered himself to be used as a hireling against the party that made him what he thinks he is today.
“He is a drowning political outcast without a platform. He went to the APC and APC rejected him, now he wants to surreptitiously fight his way back to the PDP that he sabotaged.
“But it’s too late because no political party in Nigeria today can trust Wike again. If he thinks he is that powerful, let him go and form his own political party. Very soon, it will dawn on him that he is a spent-force that will soon roll into political oblivion.”
