Barau Admonishes Nigerian Youths to Promote Peace, Remain Focused, Innovative

Sunday Aborisade in Abuja

Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Jibrin Barau, has urged youths across the country to promote peace, remain focused and be innovative in all their activities in order to address the challenges facing the country.

He made the call when he received the APC X (Twitter) Eagle Forum’s leadership at his Abuja residence, a statement by his media aide, Ismail Mudashir, stated.
Barau said the future of Nigeria rested in the hands of the youths, and as such, must prepare themselves to lead with the country’s best interests at heart.
He said great politicians like the late Malam Aminu Kano and Alhaji Abubakar Rimi, among others, were his mentors in politics, noting that the late heroes sacrificed their time, energy and resources for the development of the country.
“These leaders dedicated their lives to the development of Nigeria and it is incumbent upon us to carry forward their legacy with integrity and commitment,” he said.

He emphasised the importance of constructive political engagement and  advised members of the forum to focus on promoting the achievements of the All Prograssives Congress (APC) rather than engaging in divisive rhetoric.

“You have a significant role to play in politics, especially now, you should know that you are the future leaders. The country needs you to be ready and prepared to become leaders; you should, therefore, emulate patriotic leaders who always have the country at heart.

“So, I commend you for creating this forum as it will strengthen our party and government. So, I urge you to be focused and follow the right trajectory for the betterment of the country,” Barau said.

In their respective remarks, the Chairman and Secretary of the forum, Ahmad Gogel and Muhammad Ibrahim Tudun Wada, commended Barau for sponsoring  the bill for the establishment of the North West Development Commission (NWDC)
While thanking President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for assenting the bill, they said when the commission finally takes off, it would assist in tackling the challenges facing the North West geopolitical zone.

They presented a nomination letter to Barau as the forum’s Grand Patron.
Meanwhile, Barau has welcomed commanders of the Askarawan Kwankwasiyya in Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area.

The former chairman of Bagwai Local Government Area of Kano State, Alhaji Aminu Ibrahim Gogori and others defected to the APC from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

Barau, according to a statement by his media aide, Ismail Mudashir, received the NNPP members at his Abuja residence, yesterday.

The statement explained that Alhaji Bala Uba Kulkul, a leader of Askarawan Kwankwasiyya in Dawakin Kudu LGA led 15 commanders of the movement to the APC.

With their defection, it added, they had fussed into the Askarawan APC in Kano State. Kulkul said they decided to dump the NNPP in view of the outstanding leadership style of the Deputy President of the Senate.

Barau also received the former chairman of Bagwai Local Government Area of Kano State, Alhaji Aminu Ibrahim Gogori, councilors and chieftains of the NNPP in the local government area to the APC.

Gogori said they decided to dump the NNPP over the failure of the party leaders to fulfill the pledges they made to them while joining the party.
