Ogunsan Bags Nomination for Prestigious Africa Security Watch Award

A renowned security expert, Board Member, Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), and the Chairman of the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) in Lagos State, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, has been nominated for an honour at the 18th Africa Security Watch Awards and Conference. 

The prestigious event, scheduled to take place from December 3 to 5, 2024, at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Doha, Qatar, will recognise top professionals across the continent for their exceptional contributions to security and safety.

Ogunsan has been nominated for the “Golden Star Award for Security & Safety Advocacy in West Africa”, a recognition that highlights his outstanding work in promoting safety and security within Lagos State. The nomination was endorsed by the Security Watch Africa’s Board of Trustees, Executive Committee, and the International Awards’ Panel of Judges.

The nomination follows the 2024 International Awards’ Panel of Judges Meeting held in Ghana from August 21 to 22, where Ogunsan’s contributions were evaluated. His dedication to supporting security agencies and enhancing the safety of residents and businesses in Lagos State was particularly noted.

According to the International Coordinator/CEO, Patrick Agbambu, in a letter addressed to Ogunsan and co-signed by the Chair, International Awards Panel of Judges, Prof. Henri Fouche, the awardee is deserving of the award, after considerations on merit grounds.

“Sir, you have been found worthy to be nominated for the: Golden Star Award for Security & Safety Advocacy in West Africa The decision to nominate you for this award was taken at the 2024 International Awards’ Panel of Judges Meeting held in Ghana on August 21 – 22, 2024 and is anchored on your professionalism, pragmatism, patriotism, selfless service and commitment to the protection of lives and properties of persons and businesses in Lagos State,” he said.

In light of the nomination, the Awards’ Panel of Judges has requested documentary evidence of Ogunsan’s initiatives and measures that have significantly bolstered security in Lagos State. 

Organisers said that the 18th Africa Security Watch Awards & Conference is expected to be a grand event, with participation from top dignitaries across Africa, including representatives from Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, Liberia, Kenya, and several other nations. The event, in partnership with Stellenbosch University, South Africa, is set to be a credible and glamorous gathering, showcasing the best of African security professionals.

Ogunsan’s nomination adds to his catalogue of accolades, affirming his status as a key player in the field of security in West Africa, while specially playing a key role in ensuring the safety and security of lives and properties in Lagos State.

At the presentation of the letter of nomination to him in his Lagos office, Ogunsan said: “this nomination is not just a recognition of past achievements but also a call to continue the vital work in making Lagos State a safer place for all.
