Natasha Seeks FIDA, N’Assembly Partnership on Women Emancipation, Children Rights

The federal lawmaker representing Kogi Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has urged female lawyers to collaborate with the nation’s parliament to enforce the emancipation of women and children rights in Nigeria.

Akpoti-Uduaghan made the call yesterday when she hosted the Nigeria Chapter of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) at her Abuja residence.

The delegation, led by FIDA’s Country National President, Amina Suzanah Agbaje, aimed to explore collaborative opportunities and strengthen alliances to advance the rights of vulnerable women and children in Nigeria.

Akpoti-Uduaghan, according to a statement by her media aide, Arogbonlo Israel, reiterated her commitment to promoting gender equality and empowering women in Nigeria.

“This partnership with FIDA Nigeria is crucial in our collective quest to protect and promote the rights of women and children,” she said.

Highlights of the discussion included, women’s participation in politics, gender-based violence, and economic empowerment for women.

FIDA Nigeria’s President, Amina Suzanah Agbaje, lauded Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s dedication to women’s rights.

She said: “We are grateful for your tireless efforts and look forward to working together to create a more just society.”
