Access and NerdzFactory Foundation Equip 500 Lagos Youths with Digital Skills in DigiGap 5.0 Program

In a significant push to empower Nigerian youth with critical digital skills, Access and NerdzFactory Foundation have successfully completed the fifth edition of the DigiGap Program. The initiative, which began on July 26, 2024, trained 500 young people in Lagos, equipping them with essential skills to thrive in the fast-evolving global digital economy.

Recognizing the increasing demand for a digitally proficient workforce, the DigiGap Program focuses on bridging the skills gap among young Nigerians. Sponsored by Access and implemented by NerdzFactory Foundation, the program aligns with both national and international goals of fostering a workforce ready for the challenges of the 21st century. Over the course of four weeks, participants received training in Product Design and Digital Marketing through a hybrid learning approach that combined both online and in-person sessions.

The DigiGap Program’s emphasis on practical experience ensured that participants not only learned key technical skills but also gained hands-on knowledge, positioning them for future success in Nigeria’s growing tech industry. In addition to the technical aspects, the program focused on developing soft skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving, which are crucial in today’s workplace.

Participants expressed how the program boosted their confidence and expanded their career prospects. Ade’ Olowojoba, Director of NerdzFactory Foundation, emphasized the transformative power of the DigiGap initiative, describing it as “a catalyst for transformation.” According to Olowojoba, the program has had a profound impact on the lives of young Nigerians by providing them with the tools, resources, and knowledge necessary to succeed in the digital economy.

As the fifth edition of the DigiGap Program comes to a close, the NerdzFactory Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to empowering the next generation of tech leaders. Looking ahead, the Foundation plans to continue its collaboration with Access and other partners to broaden the program’s reach and further contribute to the development of Nigeria’s digital landscape.
