NerdzFactory Foundation, Access Bank Equip 500 Youths with Employability, Digital skills

In a rapidly evolving job market where digital and entrepreneurial skills have become crucial for success, NerdzFactory Foundation, in partnership with Access Bank, has completed the fourth edition of the Youth Transition Programme.

The initiative empowered 500 young individuals with essential employability and digital skills, setting them on a path to either securing meaningful employment or pursuing entrepreneurial ventures.

Launched on August 5, 2024, the program was conducted online, allowing participants from diverse locations to engage in interactive training sessions.

The comprehensive curriculum focused on building competencies in areas such as Digital Workspace Tools, CV Writing, LinkedIn Optimization, and Digital Workplace Skills.

These tools are considered vital in today’s job market, where adaptability, technical proficiency, and self-promotion through platforms like LinkedIn are key to professional success.

The Youth Transition Program was created to address a growing concern in the labor market: the gap between youth skills and employer expectations.

As unemployment remains a significant challenge, particularly among young people, the program aimed to bridge this divide by preparing participants not just to find jobs, but to create economic opportunities for themselves.

The integration of entrepreneurship into the training was a strategic move, offering youths the mindset and tools needed to consider starting their own businesses.

Director of NerdzFactory Foundation Ade Olowojoba, highlighted the program’s broader impact.

“The Youth Transition Program is our way of ensuring that young individuals are not just passive players in the economy but active drivers of change. By equipping them with these skills, we’re not only making them employable but also instilling in them the entrepreneurial spirit that can catalyze economic growth in our communities,” he said.

The programme’s structure was carefully designed to cater to the individual needs of the participants, with personalized sessions ensuring that each person could maximize their potential.

By the end of the training, participants reported an increase in confidence regarding their job search and entrepreneurial prospects.

Many were able to refine their CVs and optimize their LinkedIn profiles, improving their visibility to potential employers and clients.

The edition of the Youth Transition Programme underscored the ongoing collaboration between NerdzFactory Foundation and Access Bank in promoting youth empowerment.

As participants step into their professional journeys, they do so equipped with skills that are not only relevant to today’s workforce but are also aligned with future job market trends.

The initiative marks a significant step towards reducing youth unemployment and driving economic development through skill acquisition and entrepreneurship.
