FWIFT Nigeria Brings Together Female Icons For The Women in Film and TV Conference 2024

In an event set to elevate the role of African women in the global film and television industry, the Forum of Women in Film and TV Nigeria (FWIFT Nigeria) has officially announced the 2024 edition of its Women in Film and TV Conference.

Scheduled for September 18, 2024, the highly anticipated gathering will be held at the Africa Creative Market, located at the Landmark Events Center in Victoria Island, Lagos.

The conference, a hallmark of the organization’s efforts, is designed to be a transformative space where women in film and television can network, collaborate, and carve new paths in storytelling that reflect the diverse realities of African lives.

The event will convene some of the most influential female figures in the African entertainment landscape, creating a platform to address key challenges, share experiences, and set a new agenda for African narratives on the global stage.

Attendees can expect a day filled with insightful discussions, hands-on workshops, and opportunities to engage with thought leaders and decision-makers in the industry.

The ultimate aim is to amplify female voices, broaden the scope of African storytelling, and launch collaborative projects that will expand the reach of African stories worldwide.

The list of speakers promises to be nothing short of impressive, with industry heavyweights such as Nigeria’s Honorable Minister of Art, Culture, and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa, leading the lineup.

She will be joined by other notable personalities, including Alison Richards, the Managing Director of Noni Movies; Nollywood legend Joke Silva, who also serves as President of FWIFT Nigeria; Fatou Jupiter, President of Women in Film and Television Senegal; and Ego Boyo, Managing Director of Temple Productions and Temple Media.

In addition, acclaimed Nigerian film director Mildred Okwo will share her expertise with the participants.

Joke Silva, who has been at the forefront of the movement to empower women in Nigeria’s creative industries, described the conference as a pivotal moment in building a legacy of leadership and innovation among African women in film and television. According to Silva,

“This conference is dedicated to building a legacy of empowered African women in film and television. It presents a unique opportunity to inspire and elevate the next generation of storytellers by sharing experiences and fostering mutual support. Our goal is not just to shape the present but to construct a future where every woman’s voice is heard, celebrated, and valued.”

Silva’s words reflect the broader vision of FWIFT Nigeria, an organization founded to champion the professional and creative growth of women across Nigeria’s film and television sectors.

FWIFT provides mentorship, resources, and opportunities for women to excel, addressing the persistent underrepresentation and challenges they face in the industry.

Through events like the annual conference, FWIFT aims to not only bring women together but also empower them to drive change and innovation within the African entertainment landscape.

Also offering her insights on the importance of the conference, Dr. Inya Lawal, the convener of the Africa Creative Market, emphasized how the event aligns with her mission to elevate African creatives.

“This event aligns perfectly with our mission to empower African creatives and provide a platform for their voices to be heard on a global stage.

We are confident that this conference will act as a catalyst for change, fostering collaboration and driving innovation within the industry,” Lawal noted.

The Africa Creative Market, which serves as the venue for the conference, is one of the continent’s premier platforms dedicated to showcasing African talent and facilitating connections with global opportunities.

It provides the perfect backdrop for this conference, which aims to position Africa as a leader in the global creative economy.

Attendees at the Women in Film and TV Conference 2024 can look forward to a full day of engagement with industry leaders.

The organizers have promised that the event will feature empowering conversations with prominent figures, practical workshops led by experts, and extensive networking sessions. While the event is free of charge, attendees must register on womeninfilmandtv in advance to secure their spots.

As the countdown to September 18 begins, the conference is shaping up to be a landmark event for women in African film and television.

With its focus on collaboration, innovation, and empowerment, FWIFT Nigeria is setting the stage for a future where African women in the entertainment industry can thrive and have their stories heard on the global stage.
