NBBF/Zenith Bank Women’s Basketball League:First Bank, Customs in Cruise Control in Akure, Lafia

…as the first phase ends today

After promising to return to the summit of women’s basketball in Nigeria, the record winner of the Zenith Bank Women Basketball League, First Bank, has shown that they are the team to beat as they have won all their five games played so far in the Atlantic Conference of the competition currently going on at the Indoor Sports hall of the Akure Township Stadium.

First Bank so far has won all five games, putting in jeopardy the chances of the defending champion, MFM women’s basketball team in the conference after the Lagos-based side failed to win two of their games against Dolphins and Delta Force, with the two teams facing off on Sunday (today).

As it happened last year, the Customs women’s basketball team showed why they are title contenders this time around, as they have won all their five games in the Savannah Conference going on in Lafia, Nasarawa State, with the latest 93-48 points defeat of Kada Angels on Saturday.

The first phase will end on Sunday across the two conferences with the teams hoping to make enough points to stand a better chance in the second round later this month.
