Uneme communities to honour Niger Delta Minister, Anglican Bishop, Oshiomole, others

Nine communities of Uneme in Edo North will honour prominent personalities among them the Minister for Niger Delta Affairs, Abubakar Momoh, former Edo state Governor, Senator Adams Oshiomole and the Anglican Bishop of Calabar Diocese, Archbishop Tunde Adeleye at an award and fund raising ceremony in Benin on Saturday 14th of September in Benin.

Others include the Group Executive Director, Nahcoavaince Plc, Dr. Sola Obabori, Executive Director, Oando Nigeria Limited, Dr. Ainojie Irune, and National Network Coordinator West Africa Network for Peacebuilding (WANEP) Nigeria, Dr. Bridget Osakwe, and former President of Uneme National Development Association (UNDA) Sir. Dayo Alabi, Principal of Queens College, Dr. Adetutu Obabori and University of Port Harcourt Professor, Emmanuel Emasealu.

The Chairman, planning committee, Mr. Bayo Akhigbe told journalists in Lagos that the communities decided to honour the personalities for the role they played in bringing development to the various Uneme communities in their own individual capacities at different times.

Bayo disclosed that the event is part of the launch of a five hundred million naira education and security trust fund for the communities to tackle deplorable development challenges currently witnessed across the Uneme communities.

The planning committee Chairman said “We as a people and communities have decided to celebrate our illustrious sons and daughters and at the same time honour them as our proud ambassadors.

In their own various ways they have affected the Uneme communities positively through their intervention in the education, health, agriculture and job creation programmes they provided for our people. We are grateful for the ones they have done and at the same time request for more.”
