Agile Nexus Conference: A Catalyst for Africa’s Business Transformation

The COVID-19 pandemic expanded business operations globally, forcing businesses to adapt quickly and making Agile methodologies crucial for survival.

In Africa, Agile practices, which focus on business flexibility and responsiveness, are slowly being embraced by tech startups, SMEs, and large companies. According to a change-management report, Sub-Saharan Africa, with its young, educated, and entrepreneurial population, is pushing for tech-driven workplaces. As hybrid work models become more common, Agile approaches and innovations are vital for remote teams to collaborate effectively.

Furthermore, governments and organizations across the continent are adopting digital technologies and moving towards people-focused, collaborative Agile methods, with Scrum being the most widely used.

To address this growing interest, Busayo Balogun, founder of Agile Together, is organizing the Agile Nexus Conference. Scheduled for November 2024, this event will mark Africa’s first major gathering of Agile professionals, thought leaders, and business decision-makers, with the aim of driving the continent’s Agile transformation forward.

“Agile is more than a tool; it’s a mindset,” Balogun said in an interview. “Businesses in Africa have realised that to thrive in this evolving landscape, they must be responsive and adaptable.”
“The pandemic changed everything,” the convener continued. “COVID-19 opened the eyes of many organisations to the importance of agility. Now, more companies acknowledge that collaboration and adaptability are key to long-term success.”

The one-day event, themed “Future of Agile – Trends and Predictions” focuses on promoting Agile methods and Scrum practices across Africa. More than 200 participants will join workshops, receive hands-on training, and hear from global Agile experts. “Our goal is to provide African businesses with the tools they need to stay ahead of industry trends,” Balogun said. “We aim to create a network where professionals can share ideas and stay updated with Agile developments. This is the start of a movement that will change how Africa does business.”
