Beauty Queen Precious Chikwendu Announced Official Host of Evolve Conference
Nigerian actress and 2014 Miss United Nations, Dr. Precious Chikwendu, has been announced as the official host of the Evolve X Conference that will be held this Friday in Lagos.
Johannesburg-based tech entrepreneur and convener of the Evolve Conference, Charles Awuzie, made this known in a statement on Sunday while speaking on the progress made on the preparation of the event.
Awuzie said, “Dr. Precious wears many crowns and, on the 27th of September, in Lagos, she will put on another crown as the host of the Evolve X Conference 2.0.”
Miss United Nations ─ who is also an entrepreneur, an educationist, and the CEO of Whitehall Priming ─ said she is excited to host the conference and glad to be seated with people of like minds who are interested in growth and innovation at a time where hope is the best gift to offer a dreamy Nigerian who has lost faith based on the turn-out of events in the country.
“I am looking forward to an eye-opening experience filled with enriching and impactful ideas,” she said.
Speaking about her expectations of the conference, she said she expects to witness an exchange of ideas and networking for change and innovation.
The beauty queen added that the Evolve Conference will impact people and businesses because new ideas and exposure are associated with it.
The convener, Awuzie, revealed that Dr. Precious Chikwendu will not be the only celebrity who will grace the event. He stated that other celebrities and musicians, including industry leaders, tech experts and young entrepreneurs, will also attend the event.
He noted that last year, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives graced the conference. For this year’s conference in Lagos, he said lawmakers and other senior government officials, and business tycoons leading multimillion companies, will be attending the conference as well.
He further said that speakers for the conference will include, but not be limited to, Mr Olajide Abiola, CEO of Gidanka; Fada Oluoma, Catholic priest and Fintech founder; and Heather Li from Beijing, China. He added that Evolve Conference Awardees like Kelechi Deca, renowned journalist; among others, will grace the event.
He stated that the conference, now in its second edition, is a platform where dreams evolve into reality; and a forum to connect with key decision-makers, showcase innovations, expand horizons, build valuable relationships, and drive sales and leads.
Awuzie further revealed that during the Evolve Conference, they will launch a $100m Africa Tech Fund targeting African innovators.
According to him, this year may be the last time the Evolve X Conference will be held in Nigeria, as they plan to rotate the conference across other African countries.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the conference, Ossai Ilome, said that during the conference, global investors, tech pioneers, and business leaders will engage with their African counterparts to unlock new investment avenues.
Ilome noted that the conference will offer a space for personal growth and skill enhancement, and empower individuals to lead transformational change in their industry sectors.
