Upbeat Centre Hosts Fun Day for Underprivileged Children

In a heartwarming display of community support, Upbeat Centre, West Africa’s first trampoline park and hub for fitness and fun, recently hosted children from the One African Child Foundation for their ‘Children Fun Day’ programme.

This event, held at the Lekki-based recreational centre, underscores Upbeat’s commitment to using its resources and expertise to uplift underprivileged children.

The ‘Children Fun Day’ programme is a key part of Upbeat’s broader mission to foster the physical and mental well-being of children, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

By providing a day filled with engaging activities and access to state-of-the-art facilities, Upbeat aims to inspire a love for sports and active play, crucial elements in the development of healthy lifestyles.

Babatunde Akingbola, Operations Manager at Upbeat, explained the motivation behind the initiative: “We believe in creating opportunities for every child to experience the joy of active play.

The ‘Children Fun Day’ initiative is our way of ensuring that children who might not have access to such resources can enjoy a day of fun, learning, and physical activity.

“It’s about giving them a chance to explore their potential in a safe and supportive environment.”

The event featured a wide range of activities designed to entertain and educate children, aged two to sixteen. From trampoline jumps to wall climbing, foam pit races, and dodgeball games, the children were introduced to a variety of games that not only provided fun but also promoted teamwork, resilience, and physical fitness.

One of the key objectives of the ‘Children Fun Day’ programme is to address the growing concern of screen addiction among young people.

By encouraging children to engage in physical activities, Upbeat hopes to instill habits that will lead to a healthier, more active lifestyle. This initiative is in line with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 3, which aims to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.

The day was a resounding success, with both the children and the team from One African Child expressing their delight at the experience.

Adedoyin Lebimoyo, the Programme Specialist at One African Child, praised the event, noting its impact on the children. “This day was more than just fun; it was an opportunity for the kids to step out of their daily routines and experience something truly special.

“Upbeat Centre provided an environment that was both nurturing and stimulating, and we are deeply grateful for their generosity.”

Lebimoyo added that the foundation’s collaboration with Upbeat Centre reflects a shared commitment to the holistic development of children.

“At One African Child, we focus on providing comprehensive care, which includes not just education but also essential needs. Today’s event at Upbeat has added another layer to that care, offering the children a chance to play, learn, and grow in ways that will benefit them long after the day is over.”

As Upbeat Centre continues to expand its community outreach efforts, the ‘Children Fun Day’ program stands as a shining example of how businesses can make a positive impact on society.

By leveraging its unique facilities and expertise, Upbeat is not only promoting fitness and fun but also helping to build a brighter future for underprivileged children across Lagos.
