Multiple awarding Winning TG/PS gets Gov’s Commendation for Institutional Excellence

Mrs. Anike Adekanye, the Tutor General/Permanent Secretary of Education District 2, Maryland, has been honoured with the Governor’s Commendation for Institutional Excellence as Most Outstanding Education District in Lagos State.

The prestigious recognition came as a result of her tireless efforts toward the development of children and radical implementation of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Awareness programmes in Education District 2, Lagos State.

The glamorous event, tagged Governor’s Commendation & Awards Night, took place at Marriott Hotel, Ikeja on 30th September, 2024.

Receiving the award, Mrs. Adekanye expressed heartfelt gratitude to Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, and his amiable wife ,Dr Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu.

Adekanye, appreciated their exemplary leadership and deep commitment to the development of education in Lagos State. She emphasized how serving under the Governor’s vision-driven administration is both a privilege and an inspiration that propels her passion to elevate the standards of education in Education District 2 and contribute to the holistic growth of students across Lagos.

Adekanye equally thanked the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, and his wife, Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat, for doing so much for Lagos Education, and particularly for always supporting education development.

She appreciated, most profoundly, the Head of Service of Lagos State, Mr. Olabode Agoro, for being the leader of leaders, and an amazing inspiration to follow.

Aptly dubbed the Game Changer,she also expressed her appreciation for the leadership of the Honourable Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Jamiu Tolani Alli-Balogun, whose encouragement and support have been crucial to the various achievements of Education District 2. His consistent backing has made the district a key player in driving educational innovation and safeguarding students from societal challenges like domestic and sexual violence.

Adekanye expressed her gratitude to development partners and education stakeholders for their support. She commended Mrs. Adeniyi Bolanle, the District Counselor, for her dedication and brilliance in delivering exceptional services to students and her role in GBV awareness campaigns and implementations.

She highlighted that the collaborative efforts of the entire district team have ensured the protection and welfare of children in schools.

Reflecting on the #GameChanger’s journey as TG/PS; Adekanye has made courageous efforts in human and infrastructure improvement, achieved significant student and staff performance, and made enormous contribution in integrating technology into the learning process.

Over the past years, Mrs. Anike Adekanye has achieved remarkable milestones, including producing ONE-DAY GOVERNORS, ONE-DAY DEPUTY GOVERNORS of Lagos State, and multiple winners of NATIONAL/STATE TEACHERS’ & ADMINISTRATORS’ AWARDS.
