Emagine Foundation Empowers 1000 Schoolgirls with Sanitary Towels in Lagos

The co-Founder of the Emagine Foundation, Bukola Owolabi, has empowered 1000 schoolgirls in Lagos state with sanitary towels, a critical need to promote menstrual hygiene.

As part of the foundation’s efforts to support girls’ education and well-being, girls ages nine to 16 received a pack of 10 sanitary pads.

Owolabi says this initiative reflects her commitment to ensuring that menstruation does not become a barrier to education.

According to UNICEF and other sources, girls in Nigeria who don’t have access to sanitary towels experience a number of negative impacts, including missing school.

Another UNICEF report states that one in 10 African girls miss school during their period. It is in line with making an impact among the girlchild that Owolabi provided the sanitary pads.

Speaking about the programme, Owolabi emphasised the importance of access to sanitary products for girls in school. “We believe that no girl should miss out on education because of her period.

“Menstruation is natural, and it shouldn’t be a reason for girls to fall behind in their studies,” she said.

The Emagine Foundation, under her leadership, is dedicated to empowering young women through various initiatives aimed at improving their health and education.

By providing sanitary towels, the foundation is helping these girls stay confident and focused on their studies.

This outreach programme not only addresses the immediate needs of these girls but also educates them about menstrual hygiene, ensuring long-term impact.
